The Double Arch at Arches National Park - An extended view taking in a "keyhole-like" feature imbedded in the sandstone of the massive rock structure. As the sun set, the double arch was illuminated in bright shades of orange,yellow, gold and bronze. While most times, the photographer tries to avoid including people, in this case they bring real dimension to the scene, demonstrating the true magnitude of the massive rock formations. They look like so many ants among the rocks and paths leading up to the formations. During the middle of the day, the sandstone is washed out by the blinding sun, but at sunset, the colors are brilliant and the shadows add beauty.
David Choate is a retired Television News Journalist and United Way executive who lives in Hollywood, Florida. He loves photographing beauty wherever he finds it: landscapes, wild life, in our national parks and especially in sunsets at Marco Island, Florida which he believes are unequaled anywhere else on the planet.
