Description
The Harpole Bridge, built around 1918 is also known as the Manning-Rye Covered Bridge. It spans the Palouse River near Colfax, Washington. While called a covered bridge, it is actually open at the top to accommodate the wires of an electric railroad spur line. A private individual bought the bridge in 1969 for use as an access to his property. The unique Bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
